Arcane Worlds 0.09

All spells have effects now, so no more firecubes. It looks like a cosmetic change, but actually it’s a basis for future spells, including attacking ones. I’ll add more of them, and you’ll be able to find some of them while exploring the worlds.

The world generator is now scripted, so you can change it if you feel like modding. It can only generate terrain and water for now. I’ll add object generation later, as well as triggers and events to script the worlds.

I just found out about Arcane Worlds and since I would just stop short of giving an arm for a decent (or for the lack of alternatives so far ANY) Magic Carpet Remake I chose instead to throw money at you.

The game looks very promising so far and I am eager to follow the rest of the developement.

Have you thought about opening a page on Kickstarter ? You already have a pretty impressive alpha-stage so that it will serve as proof-of-concept. You really need more public exposure, as this game is the only Magic carpet remake, and ppl who have played the original, would gladly donate for this project, if only they knew it exists.

Kickstarter is US/UK only, so I can’t do it without someone helping me (someone I trust). Also, I don’t see what I can offer as the rewards for higher tiers (any ideas are welcome).

Many people don’t know about original Magic Carpet, and the alpha as it’s now is not a good representation of the game yet. I have a plan to make a trailer explaining what the game is about, and I’m working towards it, adding features I want to show in the video.

I might do an IndieGoGo campaign later though. Probably for porting the game to Mac and Linux, as well as getting some exposure from it.

In other news, I’m adding final touches to 0.10 so I’m going to release it soon. It’ll have birds.

Beautiful effects. I love the fireballs, and the water cascading down the slopes.

Thanks! The water is even better in the latest version.
