Arcane Worlds 0.10

It was a long time since last update because of real life issues mostly. But it’s out now. Get demo or download new alpha version from your link if you purchased it before.

I spent a lot of time creating new GUI system and doing some research. I’ll use that GUI not only for Arcane Worlds, but for in-game tools, such as building editor, as well as for future games.

I also added birds. They fly around in flocks and attack when you get close. They are weak but agile, so self-guided and area-of-effect spells are better against them.

There are minor fixes as well, new artistic post-effect and optional crosshair.

      Thank you.
The next update will come soon. I just need to fix several things and do some clean-up.
      So next week, likely.

Any information about spells you plan to put in? Spells from Magic Carpet and new spells?
i’ve trued the Water Ball, really beautiful effect, can be highly effective against humans or undead.

Many spells from Magic Carpet, guard tower spells (like advanced castle in MC2, but placed separately), wall spell (to protect natives from monsters/water/lava/etc. if you wish so), spell to capture a monster so you can summon its kind later or even use it as mana gatherer. Likely some spells to deal with portals to other worlds, but I need to figure out global gameplay first for this.

General Gameplay like “sandbox” , “general purpose like magic carpet” (recover a quantity of mana), “other” ?

I’ve found some projects that were trying to remake Magic Carpet, but the dev tried with integrated components of Blender (and thus made a sort of interactive scene, not a game) or tried with an another render engine not suited for game. In fact theses projected were nearly cancelled.
Your engine is suited for game so i hope you will continue, still motivated.

“General purpose like Magic Carpet”, but exploring the world, fighting monsters etc., not recovering a quantity of mana. You’ll see an early version of this in 0.11 update, which is almost ready.

Sandbox is also often requested, so I’ll add such game mode too. Also, there’ll be global gameplay (in the universe as the web of worlds) which might be somewhat “sandbox-y”.

I received a letter from someone making a similar game in Unity3D, so there might be another one :)
